Narrative
This family is listed on some genealogy charts as parents of our James Henry Gray, but I cannot find coorborating evidence that this is the correct family. Thomas Elmore Gray and Martha Lacy Smallwood did have a son listed as James H. on the census, but no evidence to date confirms that their son is the same person.
I have not added the information for the forbears of Thomas Elmore and Martha Lacy, but will append that if more evidence is found. (Jan 24, 2020)
