'Joshua Tye was a descendant of Joe Tye, whose son was killed by Indians, probably Cherokee, on Big Poplar Creek. The Tye family was led into Kentucky by the explorer Dr. Thomas Walker. Dr. Walker and his party entered the Whitley Co area at Blake's Fork Creek in April of 1759.'
