From the online Field, Wagoner, Hoover & Curtis Genealogy compiled by Al Field, San Diego, CA, http://www.fieldgenealogy.com/g1/p1090.htm#i32690:
'John lived circa 20 August 1782 at Richmond, Georgia. Based on his bounty warrants, John must have served in the Richmond County militia or have been a resident of the County in order to qualify.
John Curtis received two bounty grants, which by themselves do not prove he fought in the Revolutionary War. Bounty grants were given to ordinary citizens in good standing and ordiinary militia members, as well as men who fought in the war.'
