1850 US Census for Giles Co, TN, lists household of William Shannon age, wife Paulina age 24 and Sally Thompson, age 20. William's brother James M. Shannon lived next door with his wife Eleanor Thompson and their family. It is possible that William's first wife Paulina was also a Thompson, and all three of these women were sisters.
1870 US Census Giles Co shows a household of only William and Paulina.
