Narrative
Judith was a Duchess of Bavaria from the House of Welf, and was described as ' strong-willed and very nice, with literary and musical education.' As a wedding gift she received the Monastery of San Salvatore in Brescia, with all its influence and wealth. Politically very influential, having her own administrative staff at Court alongside her husband the King. She was accused of witchcraft and adultery accused by her opponents in 830, and was banished to the Holy Cross Monastery in Poitiers, but her name was cleared within the year. Her political star fell after the death of her husband, as the influence of her son waned.
