Narrative

Bartholomew fought in the Battle of Crécy on 25 August 1346. He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1348. He accompanied the Black Prince on nearly all of his expeditions. He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Burghersh [E., 1330] on 3 August 1355, by writ. He fought in the Battle of Poitiers on 19 September 1356. He made a journey to the Holy Land. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography, Matthew H.C.G., editor.
