There is a great deal of conflicting information online about John Jarrett. He is variously shown as having two marriages, to Anna Maria Haas and to Mary Luken, with a large number of children from both marriages. Others claim there were two John Jarretts living close by in the same time period, one married to each of these women. The most compelling argument for two men in the same area of eastern PA is made by looking at the records of their wills. Based on that, I have concluded that our Sarah Nan is the daughter of Anna Maria Haas.

There is also confusion about where in PA this family (or families) resided. Some say Germantown (NW Philadelphia) and some say Macungie (southeast of Philadelphia). It appears that the second John Jarrett who married Mary Luken lived in Germantown, and was Quaker, whereas our John Jarrett is from Macungie, and was Lutheran. The Spiegels definitely moved to NC, and some of the family on to KY.
