Narrative

From the notes posted at https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=38161796:
The daughter of Abraham Houser, Sr. and Nancy Ann Rohrer, Barbry was born in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland just 2 years after the American Revolution.

Barbry's father, Abraham Houser, was the son of Peter Houser. Her father was a Church of the Brethren (German Baptist) minister/elder and moved his family to Jessamine County, Kentucky in 1795.

Barbry married Johannes "John" Wagaman on 29 Mar 1802 in Jessamine County, Kentucky when she was 16-years-old. Her father, Rev. Houser, performed the marriage ceremony. Her mother, Nancy Houser, died in Kentucky in 1813.

Barbry and John were the parents of 14 children, all born in Jessamine County. In 1821, the Wagamans acquired 92 acres of land on Jessamine Creek from Barbry's dad, Abraham Houser. He died in Clermont County, Ohio in 1825.

One of Barbry and John's daughters, Anna, left Kentucky and married her husband, Emanuel Hoover, in 1826 in Clermont County, Ohio. In 1830, 2 of Barbry and John's sons, Abraham and Solomon Wagaman, also left Jessamine County and resettled in Monroe County, Indiana. Barbry and John, along with most of their other children, followed them to Clear Creek Township in Monroe County in 1833.

Barbry and John bought 80 acres of land in Clear Creek on 13 Dec 1833. They purchased more land there, and in Perry Township, from 1836 to 1843 bringing their total to 280 acres.

A daughter, Alice Ann, married Abraham Franklin on 11 Feb 1847. He died soon after their marriage, and Alice returned to her parents' home by 1850. A young girl, Caroline Franklin, also lived with the family at that time; she may have been Alice's daughter or step-daughter. No more information is known about Alice.

Eventually, some of the Barbry and John's children decided to move again and leave Indiana. Abraham, Solomon, David, Martha and John Wagaman headed west and settled in the northwestern part of Missouri.

After her husband's death in 1852, Barbry joined several of her children and their families in Carroll County, Missouri. She died there in 1859 at the age of 73 years and 10 months.
