Johann left Dalherda, Germany, on 1839-4-10, and arrived in the US in 1840. He was a blacksmith and wagon maker along with farmer. His son Lorenz inherited his tools upon his death. Johann was listed on the 1860 US Census for Jefferson Co, KY, with the following:

25 acres of improved land, 35 acres unimproved land valued at $1200; farm implements
valued at $150; 2 horses, 2 milch cows, 3 other cattle, 3 sheep, and 12 swine, valued at $150; 50
bushels of wheat, 50 bushels of Irish potatoes, 15 gallons of wine, 50 pounds of butter and 8 tons of hay.

Johann's possessions listed on the 1880 US Census for Jefferson Co, KY:

Owner and rents for fixed money rental, 50 tilled and 28 woodland and forest worth $1200 including
buildings. His value of farming implements and machinery was $20 and $150 of livestock. He had to pay $25 in wages for farm labor during 1879 including value of board. The value of all farm production in 1879 was $100. Acres mown was 7, not mown was 7, and 2 acres of hay. He had 3 horses. He had 5 acres of Indian com with 100 bushels, 10 acres of oats with 40 bushels, 1 acre of rye with 16 bushels, 4 acres of wheat with 40 bushels. He had 1/2 acre of sorghum with 30 gals of molasses. Value of products sold $25.

The Quillmann Cemetery is located on Cardinal Hill Rd off Palatka Rd, Jefferson Co, KY. The cemetery is surrounded by property owned by the Louisville Water Co. The land was originally part of Johann Baltzaur's farm.
