Narrative
Michael arrived in New York from Ireland on April 30, 1846, having traveled from Liverpool on the ship Venice in steerage. He listed his occupation in Ireland as farmer. [surname spelled on the ship list as Condon]
Michael was also listed as Condon on the 1850 and 1860 census records, but by the 1880 census his name appears as Condron.
Michael served in the 15th Regiment of Engineers, NY Volunteers in the Civil War 1962-1865. He applied for his pension 4-3-1891.
Michael purchased a group of cemetery plots in Calvary Cemetery Section 1, Woodside, NY, on July 14, 1864. At least 12-13 family members were laid to rest here. [Information supplied by descendant John Campbell]
