Source Descendants of Adam de Carey, Murray W. Oltman:

Sir William was known as the Knight of Cockington. During the War of the Roses he took anactive part on the side of the House of Lancaster, which was defeated. Sir William was beheaded and his property confiscated. King Henry VII later restored the property to Sir William's eldest son Robert. Robert's half-brother did not inherit.
William's sons began several royal lines. From Robert sprang the families of Clovelly, Torre Abbey, and Somersetshire. And from Thomas the three lines of nobles, Baron Hunsdon, Earl of Monmouth, and Viscount Falkland Line.
