Narrative
Archibald was born illegitimately circa 1325. Archibald fought in the Battle of Poitiers on 19 September 1356. He held the office of Lord Warden of the Marches between 1368 and 1400. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Earl of Douglas [S., 1358] on 14 August 1388. He was conservator of a peace with the English on 16 July 1390.
