'Wendell was a carpenter by trade. During the 1930's he was one of the Moore Boys of the Brown's Corner/Holland's Gin area , who played baseball around northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. Wendell played first base. Later he was a coach in the area. He had a passion for quail hunting, and trained many dogs for hunting. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.'
