Narrative
John held the office of Great Chamberlain [Scotland] on 12 March 1407. In 1416 he went to England to treat for the release of King James I. In 1420 he went to France with 7,000 Scots to support King Charles VII. He fought in the Battle of Baugé on 22 March 1421, where he greatly distinguished himself. He was a Constable of France. He died in the Battle of Verneuil on 17 August 1424 at Verneuil, France, without male issue.
