Brian 'Cathan an Duin' O'Neill, High King of Ireland also went by the nick-name of Brian 'Cathan an Duin' (or in English, 'of the Battle of Down'). He gained the title of King of Ulster in 1241. In 1256 he formed the Irish confederacy to expel the English. He gained the title of High King of Ireland in 1258. He fought in the Battle of Downpatrick in 1260, against the English. His head was sent to London.
