Elizabeth, widow of the Earl of Lincoln, and many of the Earl's extended family were among the group in Sempringham, Lincolnshire, England, that developed the idea in the 1620s to form the Massachusetts Bay Company that founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony. There are numerous histories written about the Colony and its Puritan founders. Elizabeth's lineage is also well-documented.
