James W. Shannon, 69, of 41 Kimberly Court, Decatur, AL, died Saturday, August 30, 1997, in the Decatur General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 31, at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chester Jones officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery with Taylor Funeral Home in charge.
Born September 25, 1927, in Limestone County, AL, Mr. Shannon was a resident of this area most of his life. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a retired supervisor of Monsanto Chemical Company.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Shannon of Albuquerque, NM, and Roger Shannon of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Shirley Smith of Montgomery, AL; one brother, Calvin Shannon of Ardmore, AL; three sisters, Martha Wales of Columbia, TN, Jessie Williams and Bessie Smith both of Ardmore, AL.
