'Baptized William Joseph Mattingly, 4/14/1871, by Rev. Peter J. Lacoste at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Birth date, 3/09/1871. Sponsor, Josephine Speak. Parents: Thomas R. Mattingly and Mary Josephine Hagan.

William Joseph Mattingly, who retired 20 years ago as an employee of the Bardstown Distillery at Bardstown, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 1152 South Brook, Louisville. He was 90 years old. Survivors include seven sons, Martin and Adrian Mattingly, Bardstown; Thomas S. Mattingly, Mesa, Arizona; and Peter, Joseph, Emanuel J., and Earl Mattingly, of Louisville; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur McDaniel and Mrs. Delbert Painter, Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Borders, with whom he made his home; 46 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday from the Russman Funeral Home, 1041 Goss Avenue, Louisville, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery.'
