Narrative

Between 1406 and 1427 Alexander was a hostage of King Henry VI of England a number of times. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl of Crawford in February 1407. In 1421 he negotiated for the ransom of the Scottish King.1 He was invested as a Knight on 21 May 1424. He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to England from 1429 to 1430.
