Born in Add Hamlin's house in Faber, KY. This is the same farm where Geneva and Debbie Hamlin went to pick grapes the day our car got stuck on the train tracks and demolished c. 1955. Great-grandmother Ellen had a huge grape arbor. Debbie spent many nights there buried under 5-6 quilts to stay warm. Ellen had a long black and gray braid past her waist even then.
Margaret (mom) was staying at Add's place for a few days taking care of Ona and Daisy. They had both been burned in a fire in the barn. Ona drove a truck for Gulf Oil Co, and he was working on it with sister Daisy holding a light for him. Somehow they caught the barn on fire. When Margaret went into labor, Dell rode his horse to get the midwife. Fred was the only sibling not born in his own home.
